From a very your age, Julie has been involved working within her community.  Originally from Iowa, she organized local school supply drives and volunteered at the Iowa Homeless Youth Centers in Des Moines.

In 1998, Julie moved to Chicago with a career in Information Technology.   In 2004, she graduated from DePaul University with a degree in Project Management.  Julie and her husband, Alex, moved to Uptown, later reviving the Truman Square Neighbors block club.  The block club allowed her to explore different needs within the community, whether it be through voter registration, school supply drives supporting local elementary schools, or actively working with CAPS to ensure the public safety.  In June 2008, she earned the Community Builder Award from the office of Mayor Daley.

Julie enjoys spending time with those working to build better communities and Back to School Illinois feels like a natural fit. She is thrilled to be working with B2SI and hopes to bring some new energy to an already wonderfully accomplished organized.
